We’re serious about your privacy. This page explains what information BeyondPhotoTips.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. If you have questions, contact us or write to privacy@beyondphototips.com.

The short version

The site shows ads from Journey by Mediavine, which uses cookies and similar technologies. Visitors in the EU/EEA and UK are asked for consent first.
We measure visits with analytics. Visitors in the EU/EEA and UK get analytics cookies only if they agree; visitors in Switzerland are measured without analytics cookies.
We only collect personal information you choose to give us: your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and your message if you contact us.
We don’t sell the information you give us. California visitors can opt out of the advertising “sale or sharing” described below.

Analytics

We use these services to understand which articles are useful:

Google Analytics 4 (Google). For visitors outside the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland it sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to recognise returning visits. For visitors in those regions, analytics storage is turned off by default (Google Consent Mode): no analytics cookies are set and only cookieless, aggregated measurements are sent. Visitors in the EU/EEA and UK who agree in the consent banner get the analytics cookies too. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. Google’s privacy policy.
Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare). Cookieless and doesn’t track individuals. Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Ahrefs Web Analytics (Ahrefs). Cookieless, aggregated visit statistics. Ahrefs’ privacy policy.

Advertising

Ads on this site are served by Mediavine through its Journey program. Mediavine and its advertising partners may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you visit and how you interact with ads, using cookies and similar technologies. They use it to show and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where allowed, show ads based on your interests. Mediavine’s privacy policy explains what they collect and how.

EU/EEA and UK: a consent banner asks for your choice on your first visit. Change it at any time with the Manage Preferences link in the footer.
California: use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link.

If you subscribe, your email address is sent to and stored by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which sends the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time. Kit’s privacy policy.

Contact form

Messages sent through the contact form (your name, email address and message) are delivered to us by email through Web3Forms. We use them only to reply to you. Web3Forms’ privacy policy.

Comments

Comments are closed. Comments left in earlier years are still shown with the name (and website, if one was given) the commenter chose to publish. Commenters’ email addresses and IP addresses are not kept on this site. If you’d like an old comment of yours removed, contact us.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Embedded videos

Articles may include YouTube videos. They load in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and only after you click play. Until you click, nothing is loaded from YouTube except the preview image. Once a video plays, YouTube’s privacy policy applies.

Affiliate links

Some articles link to products on Amazon and other retailers. If you follow such a link, the retailer may set its own cookies to record that the visit came from us, so we can earn a commission at no cost to you. Those cookies are set on the retailer’s site, not ours. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Other websites

Links to other websites are provided for your information. We aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices; please read their policies.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have the right to:

access the personal data we hold about you
have it corrected or completed
have it erased
restrict or object to its processing
receive it in a portable format
complain to your local data protection authority

The only personal data we hold ourselves is what you’ve sent us (newsletter subscription, contact messages). Advertising and analytics cookies are set only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the Manage Preferences link in the footer. To use any of these rights, contact us. We reply within one month.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. The advertising cookies described above may count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information under California law. To opt out, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link on this site. For any other request, contact us.

Children’s information

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes too.
